My head pounded, leaning on something wet and moist as I first spotted one of those teeth, right next to my face- I figured it some sort of digested dental work.   I was expecting death. Expecting some serious injuries, some wicked cool scars, just something.  There definitely was a large bump on my head, but otherwise, that wasn't quite the case.

An ornate, abstract window was just above me, sunlight penetrating into this humid environment in a peculiar shaped zig zag, entire atrium bathed in a mild reddish glow. I shook my head out, gasped for air as my whole body felt achy and bruised, wanting to remain crumpled in this oddly

Chapter 35

"…..ohhh fuck." I muttered, flicking them as they were indeed feathers, right up out of the skin.  Christopher spotted them too by this time, more confused than properly understanding the hell he was about to go through. Again.  "Shit…. you're going back."

"Back to what?" He almost laughed at it, before another surge of pain sent him grasping for his head, leaning over, suffering.  I had to take a step back, trying and get my bearings, not expecting this.

"Cherub" I said quickly as his eyes went immediately wide,  glaring at me through the discomfort while I noticed his hair looking less-hair-like, and more stiff, feat

So Raziel didn't always have little chicken stubs for wings, and despite his failings early on in the first novel, he used to be a very skilled, multi-talented individual with a great amount of respect tied to his name. Even though he'd probably rather have a different job then fighting demons, he was pretty good at it.

After things went to shit - for reasons that you should read the novel - he was demoted far down that ladder, they let him keep his old "serious" fighting gear. But it wasn't a show of respect, moreso insult to injury, being overly- armored for fighting off family pets and such. Though anything lost or broken after that point was no longer replaced; hence why it's a little patchy within the context of the story. So there you go; not totally necessary background information for you.

Though even wit that, there's some discrepancy in this image - he got the pike at a later date then something like this would've taken place - Raziel namely fought with swords and such prior to these events, and the pike came in later as extra insult, medium range weapon for a cocker spaniel after the last sword broke.

Anyways! I've been terrible with the novel lately in getting chapters out; there's just a couple left on this last book, and i want to do it right.
Quickish doodle- just about 3 hours of work. I sketched this up at about 9, had my body kinda crash on me so I slept for 2.5 hours, then woke up and finished this. I need to illustrate more Raziel images- he's a great character to elaborate details on.

Awesome painting, and I love that song (especially the mumford and sons cover). I really need to read the second book of this story, seeing as I enjoyed the first one so much.
